Community Support Volunteer Agreement & Waiver

Community Support is a community program of SeatForAll that provides free, non-medical assistance with everyday tasks for people with disabilities.

Before volunteering, please review and agree to the following safety, conduct, privacy and liability terms.

Volunteer Status

I understand that I am participating voluntarily and am not an employee of SeatForAll or Community Support.

I understand that I will not receive wages or employee benefits for my volunteer service.

I understand that I am participating as a volunteer and that volunteering does not create an employment relationship with SeatForAll.

What Volunteers May Do

Community Support volunteer activities may include:

Light housekeeping
Organizing
Basic outdoor work
Washing vehicles
Moving or lifting ordinary household items
Other basic everyday assistance approved by Community Support

WHAT VOLUNTEERS MAY NOT DO

Unless SeatForAll specifically authorizes otherwise, volunteers may not:

Provide medical care
Provide personal care
Administer or manage medication
Provide professional electrical, plumbing, construction or other licensed services
Handle firearms or weapons
Manage someone's money, financial accounts, passwords or financial information
Transport Community Support recipients in a personal vehicle
Work on roofs or at dangerous heights
Use chainsaws or unusually hazardous equipment
Perform work they believe is unsafe or beyond their physical ability
Bring unapproved people to an assignment

I agree to stay within the approved scope of my Community Support assignment and to stop and contact SeatForAll if I am asked to perform something unsafe or outside that scope.

Assumption of Risk

I understand that Community Support volunteer activities may involve ordinary risks, including slips, trips, falls, lifting or carrying objects, household or outdoor conditions, pets, weather, cleaning products, tools or equipment, and travel to or from volunteer locations.

I agree to use reasonable care, follow Community Support instructions, and notify SeatForAll if I encounter a condition or request that I believe is unsafe.

I voluntarily assume the ordinary and reasonably foreseeable risks associated with participating in Community Support volunteer activities.

I have read and understand the Assumption of Risk section.

Release of Liability

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY GEORGIA LAW, I RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS SEATFORALL, COMMUNITY SUPPORT, AND THEIR DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS FROM CLAIMS FOR PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE OR OTHER LOSS I MAY SUFFER WHILE PARTICIPATING IN COMMUNITY SUPPORT VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING CLAIMS ARISING FROM THE ORDINARY NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASED PARTIES.

THIS RELEASE DOES NOT APPLY TO LIABILITY THAT CANNOT LAWFULLY BE WAIVED, INCLUDING GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR WILLFUL OR WANTON MISCONDUCT.

I understand that by agreeing to this provision, I may be giving up certain rights I might otherwise have to bring a claim arising from ordinary risks or ordinary negligence associated with my volunteer participation.

I have read this Release of Liability, understand it and voluntarily agree to it.

Volunteer Conduct

While volunteering with Community Support, I agree to:

Treat recipients with dignity and respect
Follow the recipient's boundaries within the approved assignment
Not discriminate, harass, threaten or exploit anyone
Not use alcohol or illegal drugs during an assignment or arrive impaired
Respect the recipient's home and belongings
Respect the recipient's privacy
Immediately report injuries, accidents, property damage or serious concerns to SeatForAll
Not represent myself as a medical professional, caregiver, contractor or other professional on behalf of SeatForAll unless specifically authorized

SeatForAll may suspend or end a person's participation in Community Support at any time when safety, conduct or program concerns arise.

I agree to follow Community Support volunteer conduct and safety requirements.

Privacy, Photos & Social Media

Information learned about a Community Support recipient should be treated as private.

Volunteers may not publicly share a recipient's:

Name
Address
Disability
Medical or personal circumstances
Photographs
Videos
Other identifying information

Volunteers may not photograph or record a recipient or their home during a Community Support assignment unless the recipient has clearly consented and SeatForAll has approved the recording.

Consent to receive Community Support assistance DOES NOT equal consent to being photographed, recorded or posted publicly.

I agree to protect the privacy of Community Support recipients.

Property & Incidents

I agree to use reasonable care with a recipient's home and property.

I understand that I may be personally responsible for conduct that is intentional, reckless, criminal or substantially outside the duties SeatForAll authorized me to perform.

I agree to immediately report accidental damage, injury or other incidents to SeatForAll rather than attempting to conceal or privately resolve the issue.

I understand my responsibility to follow my assignment and report incidents immediately.

Emergencies

Community Support is not an emergency service.

If I encounter what reasonably appears to be an immediate medical, fire, safety or other emergency, I will contact the appropriate emergency services and notify SeatForAll as soon as reasonably possible.

I will not attempt to provide medical treatment beyond assistance that I am legally trained and authorized to provide.

I understand the Community Support emergency procedure.
